BSP’s Machine Passed Censure on Sergey Stanishev
Close to the Socialists’ leader politicians were left outside the Executive Bureau. Tatyana Doncheva attacked the leadership with the question about “briefcases full of money”
Bulgaria News | 31.10.2009 20:42Hard times have come for Sergey Stanishev as leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) it became clear at the Saturday held plenum of the party. At the secret by name voting five filed receiving the support needed of 50% + 1 vote of all attending. These were nominated for spokesperson of the party Dimcho Mihalevski, former Speaker of the 40th National Assembly Georgi Pirinski, former Deputy Minister of Environment Atanas Kostadinov, Publisher of the Duma daily Nikolay Malinov, and Chair of BSP-Varna Borislav Gutzanov, as the latter took active part in Stanishev’s campaign for the 41st Parliament. This is a heavy slam for BSP’s leader, who was forced to separate with four closes of his, in order of passing the Executive Bureau membership. It includes veteran Secretary General of BSP Dimitar Dabov, who announced prior to the congress he would retire, Media Policy Secretary Anton Koutev, Semra Izetova, and former Minister of Culture Stefan Danailov. Flagman figures for BSP as Roumen Ovcharov and Roumen Petkov declared boycott to Stanishev and departed the party’s leadership
